Good Morning Folks...
The existence of the Metis Nation is a FACT...it is not some Fancy romantic Notion...!!!!!It is clearly Imbedded in my mind....my thinking springs from that fact..This Metis Nation is a Nation with a Country..... We were not promised Land By God or some potentate..!!!!!we became a people and aquired Metis Nationhood over time...Does anyone dispute that .......The metis of to-day..did not start this existence of metis Nationhood.... it began before we came on the scene...we are here with a DUTY to do our part....to carry it out to its logical conclusions What Canada thinks is irrelevent...its what we think is Relevant..!!!!!!

FG – The existence of Metis people is a FACT – The existence of a Nation can be debated.

“It is clearly Imbedded in my mind....my thinking springs from that fact..”

The thinking of an Arian Nation was imbedded in Hitler’s mind – didn’t mean it was right.

“This Metis Nation is a Nation with a Country.....”

Sorry to break the news to you, but in the history of Canada there has never been a Nation called “The Metis Nation”. And that is FACT. There were people who developed a unique culture and grew together to form what we now call Metis people, but as a Nation they never existed in any historical writings. Most either identified themselves with the tribes they had associations with, or the European ancestors they came from. We are a unique people, but we are far from a Nation.

“We were not promised Land By God or some potentate..!!!!!we became a people and aquired Metis Nationhood over time...”

What does Metis Nationhood have to do with being promised land? We had our chance at the land but most of us either never got it, or had it swindled away from us. Too bad so sad. Our ancestors were taken advantage of and we the next generations had to suffer for it. That’s life, cry a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

“Does anyone dispute that .......”

Yea I do!

“The metis of to-day..did not start this existence of metis Nationhood.... it began before we came on the scene...we are here with a DUTY to do our part....to carry it out to its logical conclusions.”

If you mean taking up arms against the government of Canada to reclaim land in the provinces of MB, SK, AB then you may have a hard time doing this. Don’t forget our forefathers tried that in 1884 – 85 and got their asses kicked because our leader thought he was a Jew, and a prophet, etc. He may have been educated, but was not much of a military commander. IF he had listened to Dumont then maybe today you would be speaking from a Metis Nation. But that is lost forever.

“What Canada thinks is irrelevent...its what we think is Relevant..!!!!!!”

And what makes Metis more prominent than other Canadians? Just because they were here first doesn’t give them that right. It’s the same all around the world, people live, they conquer or become conquered. If you are the conqueror then enjoy the position of your victory. If you are of the later, then suck it up and accept your fate.

People who think this way will never get anything for our Metis people. Our ability to be treated fairly in the eyes of the government will never become recognized. ADAPT, IMPROVISE, AND OVERCOME. Our forefathers did this and so should we.

Fortunat, forgot to mention one more item. If you don't know it already, you're late in claiming the land as Metis land if you want to use the we were here first argument. I believe the "Metis Homeland" is on First Nations lands, that once belonged to the Souix, Cree, Ojibwa, etc. Better be prepared to stand in line a long time.

Which doesn't really matter since it is all part of CANADA now.
